Our Beloved Black Creek

A LIVING AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Our Little Log Wedding Chapel resides on the shore of beautiful Black Creek! We both live here with our husbands and enjoy all that year-round creek life has to offer. There is so much wildlife to observe from the resident blue herons that fly around like mini pterodactyls to the turtles that soak up the sunshine on the warm days. The creek runs for 10 miles and forks out into 2 directions which makes for an amazing kayak ride or relaxing pontoon boat cruise. We do have to pinch ourselves and wonder how we got so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful community with a side benefit of a gorgeous waterfront view of the creek and the wildlife it sustains. We welcome you to Niagara’s best kept secret! – Kathy and Kim

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BLACK CREEK, STEVENSVILLE?

We are located 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls, Canada. Black creek runs off of the mighty Niagara River (which runs north from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario). The water in our creek is en route to going over the Falls and out to Lake Ontario.

BLACK CREEK BACK THEN

Today our little creek is used for leisure activities, however 100 years ago it was put to work and used in the logging industry.

In the 1920s the PEG-LEG RAILROAD which travelled from BLACK CREEK TO FORT ERIE was stationed right near the area where the chapel now resides (hence the name of our street “Switch Road”).
The old photos below are very rare and there are so few in existence. We are happy that someone took the time to document the creek and its logging industry.
